Adam Svensson made a 48-foot eagle putt on the closing hole to complete an 11-under 60 on Thursday that gave him a two-shot lead over Sam Stevens and Thorbjorn Olesen after one round of the 3M Open.

One day after he set a tournament record by shooting a 60, Canadian Adam Svensson shot a 4-over-par 75 and made the 36-hole cut. Thursday’s first round included eight birdies and an eagle, and he credited a sizzling putter that had never been better in his life.

Svensson came into the week 170th in the FedEx Cup standings, effectively needing a win to get inside the top 100 and give himself a look at a playoff spot. With a win, Svensson would move to 69th in the standings, putting him just inside the number needed to make it to the first playoff event with just one tournament to go.
