Ole Miss freshman football player Corey Adams was killed in a shooting in Tennessee, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office announced Sunday. Law enforcement officials found Adams with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle at an intersection in Cordova on the outskirts of Memphis late Saturday, the sheriff's office said in a statement.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ( WREG) — A freshman football player for Ole Miss is dead after authorities in Tennessee say he and four other people were shot outside a home late Saturday night. Detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened in Cordova, just outside of Memphis, shortly after 10 p.m.

Adams, a top player on the Karr football team that won a state championship last season, was found by deputies in a vehicle outside a residence in Cordova, Tennessee. The deputies attempted “life-saving measures,” the release said, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
