An overwhelming majority of the 250 businesses at the center of price gouging complaints during Beryl— including hotels, gas stations and convenience stores— were sent cease and desist letters to reduce their prices.

A Bellaire gas station must pay $50,000 after customers reported it had raised fuel prices by close to 20% during Hurricane Beryl.

The settlement is the second reached by the Harris County Attorney’s office over price gouging in the wake of Hurricane Beryl in July.

It's the second gas station that Harris County has sued for taking advantage of consumers during the disaster.
