Updated UK weather forecasts suggest colder, more settled conditions heading into Christmas 2025, with snow possible in parts of Britain as temperatures fall and high pressure builds.
There is also a forecast for freezing rain in Essex and Hertfordshire. According to the Met Office, this is a rare type of liquid precipitation that strikes a cold surface, and freezes almost instantly. It is not seen very often in the UK and creates a clear layer of ice on surfaces.
