Weather maps from WX Charts are showing January 3 could see conditions shift bringing with it a wall of icy, snowy weather to batter a massive swathe of the UK

While the weather for the first start of the summer holidays has been poor, with weather warnings for rain, Storm Floris and plenty of grey skies, things could be about to change. The weather has started to improve and we have seen more dry spells this week.

Updated UK weather forecasts suggest colder, more settled conditions heading into Christmas 2025, with snow possible in parts of Britain as temperatures fall and high pressure builds.

There is also a forecast for freezing rain in Essex and Hertfordshire. According to the Met Office, this is a rare type of liquid precipitation that strikes a cold surface, and freezes almost instantly. It is not seen very often in the UK and creates a clear layer of ice on surfaces.
