Poirier (30-9 MMA, 22-8 UFC) returns to the cage in a retirement bout this Saturday in the main event of UFC 318 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+ ), which takes place at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. He takes on former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway (26-8 MMA, 22-8 UFC) in a trilogy bout.

UFC 318 was supposed to be a retirement party for Dustin Poirier, but Max Holloway wasn't much for that sentiment. Blessed finally picked up a win against The Diamond with a unanimous decision win in the main event.

Poirier received farewell messages from the likes of Islam Makhachev, Jon Jones, Conor McGregor, Belal Muhammad, and Jorge Masvidal, but his legacy was perhaps best summed up by UFC welterweight Themba Gorimbo, who wrote on Twitter, “Diamonds are forever.” Check out more social media reactions to Poirier’s final fight below.
