Michael McClain, a longtime lobbyist for utility giant Commonwealth Edison who was also a close confidant of then-Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, was sentenced to two years in prison Thursday for his central role in a scheme to bribe the powerful speaker in exchange for his help with ComEd’s legislative agenda.

CHICAGO - Michael McClain, a former friend and confidant of Michael Madigan, is set to be sentenced today. McClain was part of the ComEd Four who were all found guilty of arranging jobs, contracts and money for allies of Madigan.

Now, more than two years after McClain’s conviction in the historic “ComEd Four” bribery case, McClain is scheduled to learn his fate today at the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse, where he faces sentencing in what has become one of the biggest bribery scandals in state history.
