James Gunn’s spent the past few weeks talking about why he agreed to do Superman, and he’s also taking time to address the awkward part: agreeing to do it at the apparent expense of Henry Cavill’s superhero comeback.

"This started out as the worst day of my life, but I actually think it's the best day of my life," Gunn recalled thinking on the day he was fired.

His hit reboot is meant to kick off years of new projects from the rebranded DC Studios. But for a long time, Gunn couldn’t figure out the character.
