Judge Steven Hippler acknowledged Kohberger's motive may never be known as he sentenced him to four consecutive life sentences on the four first-degree murder counts and the maximum penalty of 10 years on the burglary count.

Police in Moscow, Idaho, on Wednesday night released hundreds of files after the sentencing of Bryan Kohberger —the 30-year-old who was handed life in prison without the possibility of parole—after pleading guilty in the vicious stabbing deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.

Bryan Kohberger was sentenced to life in prison on July 23 after he pleaded guilty earlier this month to killing four University of Idaho students in 2022.
