With Arnold off to play for the Auburn Tigers, the Sooners went back to the Wazzu well and landed Mateer, having already hired Arbuckle at the end of the regular season. It's now Mateer who is in line to enter his name next to the other legends in the pantheon of great Oklahoma quarterbacks.

Even though the Oklahoma Sooners didn't pull in a top-ten recruiting class for their 2025 haul, they still managed to add plenty of talented players who are in prime shape to be long-time playmakers on both sides of the ball.

Oklahoma is gearing up for a comeback after a tough first season in the SEC. The Sooners finished 6-7 overall and 2-6 in conference play, far behind Texas, which dominated with a 13-3 record.
