A day after dropping the series opener to the Rangers, the A’s will get another chance to win a game in Texas and even up the series. The Rangers are on the outside looking in on the Wild Card picture but are right there.

As for the deadline, Texas is bordering in the sell-or-buy gray area.

The surging Texas Rangers will look to sweep a three-game series from the Athletics on Wednesday when the teams clash in the finale of the set in Arlington, Texas.

Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News posted to X (formerly Twitter) that this was the first time three did that in the same game since Sept. 24, 2023. Not only that, this is only the fourth time it has ever happened (also Aug. 9, 2022 and May 28, 2022).

BOTTOM LINE: The Athletics aim to break a three-game losing streak with a victory against the Texas Rangers. Texas is 52-50 overall and 30-20 at home. The Rangers have a 25-7 record in games when they hit at least two home runs.

Raymond went one step further, calling them the “Wandering Athletics” on Monday and the “Itinerant Athletics” last night. For the unfamiliar, “itinerant” means traveling from place to place. For example, Kansas City Royals veteran Rich Hill is an itinerant pitcher, seeing as he’s pitched for a record 14 teams.

Nathan Eovaldi’s scratch from his scheduled Sunday start was a bit of a surprise. Now, the Texas Rangers are hopeful he can start against the Athletics.
