NEW YORK — An ominous cloud of uncertainty hung over the Yankees all afternoon in the Bronx on Saturday. It felt like their season was suddenly hanging in the balance with the results of Aaron Judge’s elbow imaging still a secret.

Aaron Boone said the slugger is heading to the IL with a right flexor strain after missing Saturday’s game against the Phillies. Boone found out before the 9-4 loss, as Judge underwent an MRI, received a PRP injection and some medicine, and visited with the Yankees’ team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad.

Although New York still occupies the top Wild Card slot, the Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays are all close behind. If the Yankees do not heed Giancarlo Stanton's words over the next 10 Judge-less games, then they could possibly find themselves at the bottom of that pile.

Trent Grisham hit a tiebreaking grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning and the New York Yankees rallied from five runs down to beat the Atlanta Braves 12-9 before a crowd of 42,530, the largest this season at Truist Park.

That’s why Grisham wasn’t in the Sunday’s lineup for the Yankees’ series finale against the Braves after he was a hero in Saturday night’s 12-9 comeback win with a tie-breaking grand slam in the ninth inning.
