When accusations of plagiarism are made, there’s usually an awful lot of back-and-forth, denials from all sides, and rarely clear-cut satisfaction. But after yesterday’s claims by a Chinese illustrator that his artwork had appeared in Pokémon TCG Pocket’s brand new set,

The latest Pokemon TCG Pocket set, The Wisdom of Sea and Sky, arrived today, bringing with it a bunch of cards based on Pokemon Gold and Silver. That included a pair of Ho-Oh and Luiga immersive art cards, except it appears that the art for the Ho-Oh card may have actually traced over some commissioned fan art from 2021.

The cards, via PokeBeach, aren’t gold reproductions of other cards in the set. Instead, they feature entirely new art that is exclusive to the gold version of the cards. These gold cards will likely be included in the upcoming Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution set.
