• Solar Prominance • Taken over a period of approx 11 hrs. The prominence plasma flows along a tangled and twisted structure of magnetic fields generated by the sun’s internal dynamo. An erupting prominence occurs when such a structure becomes unstable and bursts outward, releasing the plasma. Also visible are Spicules, a dynamic jet of plasma in the Sun's chromosphere about 300 km in diameter, rise at a rate of 20 km/s (or 72,000 km/h) and can reach several thousand kilometers in height before
