Insulin is administered by the subcutaneous route. Why is it not administered by the oral route? Insulin is a polypeptide so it is susceptible to degradation in GIT, hence it is administered through s/c route to show its effects. Insulin has different types based upon their onset and duration of action. *1) Rapid Acting Insulin:* eg; Lispro, Aspart, Glulisine *2) Short Acting Insulin:* eg; Regular insulin *3) Intermediate Acting Insulin:* eg; NPH (Neutral Protamine Hagedorn) *4) Long Acting Insu
